In District Caye: San Ignacio Resort Hotel is an upscale jungle resort located in the town of San Ignacio, close to the Belize Botanic Gardens, the town center and the Hawkesworth Bridge, a one lane suspension bridge in San Ignacio, built in 1949 and imported from Middlesbrough, England. It crosses the Macal River linking San Ignacio to its sister-town Santa Elena. The airy rooms & suites are decorated with local art and feature jungle views, plus balconies or terraces with hammocks. Also offered: free Wi-Fi and cable TV; some have 4-poster beds. Upgraded rooms add pull-out sofas, and suites add seating areas. An upgraded suite adds a whirlpool tub and a private butler (on request). Amenities include a lobby bar, an outdoor pool and a steak restaurant.
