After your morning flight to San Cristobal Island, your local host and private naturalist guide will meet you at the airport, assist you with your luggage, and transfer you to your selected hotel for a two-night stay in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Breakfast and taxes are included.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
The afternoon begins with a visit to the Interpretation Center, where you will learn about Galapagos wildlife, geology, history, and the islands’ social dynamics. After your visit, hike to Tijeretas Hill along natural trails formed by ancient lava rocks. The path is surrounded by native vegetation, including Galapagos cotton, Palo Santo, acacia, and cacti. Along the way, keep an eye out for blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, pelicans, herons, gulls, warblers, mockingbirds, and finches.
Cool off after your hike with a refreshing snorkeling experience at postcard-perfect Carola Beach, where you may encounter friendly sea turtles, playful sea lions, and marine iguanas while enjoying the beautiful coastal scenery and setting sun. The remainder of the day is at leisure. A stroll through the charming, laid-back beach town and along the waterfront promenade is recommended to visit a nearby colony of Galapagos sea lions.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Our second day begins with a busy morning of snorkeling along the coastal bays and coves of San Cristobal’s north coast, full of funny looking blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, sea lions, and gentle sea turtles.
We will visit Kicker Rock, a massive volcanic rock formation rising 500 feet from the sea. We will put on snorkels and fins to interact with sea lions, as well as marine iguanas and countless colorful reef fish. We will swim with serene spotted eagle rays, golden rays, harmless Galapagos sharks, unique starfish, clams, and fish of every shape, size, and color. With luck, we might even see some hammerhead sharks! After a full day spent exploring the seas, we head back to town for a well-earned rest.
Today, transfer to the local pier to board a shared speedboat for a short cruise to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Upon arrival, meet your private guide and head to El Chato in the highlands to observe the famous Galapagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat. It is a truly memorable experience to walk among these gentle giants, which can live for more than 175 years. Along the way, keep an eye out for pintail ducks, Darwin’s finches, frigatebirds, egrets, and the vibrant vermilion flycatcher.
Continue to the incredible lava tunnels, where you will discover fascinating geological formations and hear captivating stories and legends from your guide about pirates who once visited the Galapagos and the hidden treasures rumored to be concealed within these caves. The adventure continues with a hike to Los Gemelos, two impressive volcanic sinkholes located in the highlands of the island. The trail winds through an endemic Scalesia forest covered with ferns and epiphytes, creating a peaceful and mysterious atmosphere as you search for the elusive short-eared owl.
After your exploration, check in at your selected hotel for an overnight stay.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
After an early breakfast, be ready to be transferred to the local pier to board a speedboat for a shared ride to Isabela Island, which is the largest island and one of the prettiest in the Galapagos. The white sand, calm waters and beautiful scenery make a perfect setting for a great family holiday. Upon arrival, your local host will take you to the hotel of your choice where you will spend two nights.
At the designated time, we will join our local host for a snorkeling adventure of the Tintoreras; a set of small islets filled with hidden coves and beaches. Here, we will find the peculiar, endemic Galapagos penguin and other marine life. The rest of the day is spent enjoying the beautiful white sand beach.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
You will enjoy one adventure of your choice. If you have a specific activity in mind, please let us know; we will adjust the tours selection accordingly (a surcharge may apply). Please indicate your selection at booking time.
Important Note: *Not recommended for travelers with back problems, pregnant travelers, heart conditions, or other serious medical conditions. Participants should have a moderate level of physical fitness.
After breakfast, travel by shared speedboat to Santa Cruz Island, keeping an eye out for whales and dolphins along the way. Your destination is Puerto Ayora, the vibrant hub of the Galapagos Islands. Upon arrival, transfer to your selected hotel for a two-night stay with breakfast and taxes included. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore Puerto Ayora at your own pace.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
This morning, meet your local host for a nature walk to the beach at Tortuga Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galapagos. Its calm waters and soft, fine sand make Tortuga Bay a preferred nesting site for the black turtle, hence its name. To reach this spot we will hike through unique dry forest, where we will find flocks of birds and many interesting plants.
After lunch, we will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn from local scientists about the ongoing conservation efforts on these enchanted islands. The Research Station rears endemic plants, land iguanas, and giant tortoises for educational, scientific, and conservation purposes. Here, we can learn more about the diverse evolutionary paths and characteristics of the animals and plants that we just met.
At the appropriate time, transfer to Baltra Island for your return flight to mainland Ecuador. As your Galapagos adventure comes to an end, bid a fond farewell to these extraordinary islands and their remarkable wildlife.
