Atacama, Chile: Discover the Enchanting Valley of the Moon and Death Valley. In the afternoon, the shared excursion departs from your hotel in San Pedro and heads to the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range), where you will visit the Valley of the Moon, which is part of the National Flamingo Reserve. This remarkable place features stone and sand formations sculpted by wind and water. Its impressive colors and textures create a landscape that closely resembles the surface of the moon. Declared a Nature Sanctuary in 1982 for its striking beauty and unusual lunar scenery, the valley is also famous for its natural mineral sculptures, including “Las Tres Marias” (The Three Marys), shaped by centuries of wind erosion.
The tour then continues to Death Valley (Valle de la Muerte), a sandy area with striking natural formations that attract sandboarders from around the world. Its salt structures resemble delicate works of art. To end the excursion, you will enjoy a magical sunset at the Kari Viewpoint, one of the highest points of the Cordillera de la Sal, before returning to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
