San Jose, Costa Rica: Pacuare River Rafting Class III-IV with Lunch. Today, you’ll embark on an exciting adventure as you ride the whitewater rapids of one of Costa Rica’s most scenic tropical rivers, the Rio Pacuare (Class IV). This thrilling journey offers some of the finest whitewater rafting in Latin America, taking you through lush rainforests, past crystalline waterfalls, and along dense vegetation covering steep gorges. Enjoy a traditional Costa Rican breakfast en route to the put-in site before starting your 18-mile adventure down this spectacular waterway.
As you raft, you’ll float through pristine tropical forests, home to toucans, parrots, and other vibrant birdlife. This unforgettable experience combines Class III and IV rapids with breathtaking scenery, including massive tropical trees and waterfalls that cascade into the river. We’ll pause for a healthy lunch by the riverbank in a traditional palm-thatch structure owned by a Cabecar Indian family. Afterward, we’ll paddle through more adrenaline-pumping rapids and marvel at stunning views, including the narrow canyon of Dos Montanas. Once we reach the highway, you’ll have the opportunity to change into dry clothes before our 90-minute drive back to San José.
