Tortuguero Village is a small community of about 1,200 people, nestled on a narrow peninsula in northeastern Costa Rica. With the Caribbean Sea on one side and a wide, jungle-backed canal on the other, this charming town is known as the place where turtles go. It’s an incredible wildlife destination and one of the most important turtle nesting sites in the world, where four species of endangered sea turtles instinctively return to lay their eggs.
The main attraction here is Tortuguero National Park, which includes both the nesting beaches and the surrounding rainforest and mangroves teeming with diverse wildlife.
