We toured the Doka coffee plantation and La Paz Waterfall gardens with Homer, and we were treated to way more than we could have imagined. Great knowledge of local flora, fauna, history, and a wonderful person overall. A wonderful day in the cloud forest!

In Baltra
AM: Arrival at Baltra Airport
Morning flight from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra, in the Galapagos Islands. Upon arrival at Baltra Island, passengers are greeted at the airport by our knowledgeable guides and taken on a brief ten-minute bus ride to the pier, where they will board the Galapagos Legend.
PM: North Seymour Island
This flat, uplifted island is an important spot to see both magnificent and great frigatebird males courting females. We are also likely to see courting blue-footed boobies. Sea lions, swallow-tailed gulls, crashing surf, and distant views of the Daphne Islands round out a memorable visit.
AM: Bartolome Island
Considered the most iconic landscape of the entire archipelago, the view from the top of Bartolome Island overlooks the famous Pinnacle Rock and the austere Santiago Island. Our subsequent snorkel here might bring us face to face with Galapagos penguins, whitetipped reef sharks, and playful sea lions.
PM: Sullivan Bay: Santiago Island
Visitors are consistently captivated by the striking beds of pahoehoe lava from a recent flow on the island. It is a dream setting for landscape and macro photographers alike. As we hike across the lava, we will also discuss the importance of pioneering plants such as the tiny Mollugo.
AM: Punta Pitt: San Cristobal Island
This is the only place in the Galapagos where we have the chance to see all three species of boobies in one location. Red-footed boobies perch in Cordia lutea and small trees, Nazca boobies nest on the ground near the cliff edge, and blue-footed boobies can be found a little further inland. Frigatebirds soar all around, and the views are truly breathtaking.
PM: Cerro Brujo: San Cristobal Island
From our dinghy ride on the way to shore, we are first humbled by the immensity of the stunning cliffs of Sorcerer’s Hill. Once ashore, you can enjoy simply sharing the beach with sea lions, snorkeling from the shore, or walking to a hidden lagoon where you might spot black-necked stilts, ruddy turnstones, whimbrels, and white-cheeked pintails.
AM: Cerro Colorado Tortoise Reserve: San Cristobal Island
In the moist highlands of San Cristobal, we will visit the giant tortoise breeding center, La Galapaguera, to observe the archipelago’s most iconic creature at various stages of life. The reserve’s goal is to help restore populations of the threatened San Cristobal tortoise back into the wild. In town, you will also find shops offering local handicrafts and souvenirs.
After the visit, passengers will be transferred to San Cristobal Airport for their return flight to Guayaquil or Quito.
