I want you to know that we arrived safely back to the US. Thank you for all of your help with our changes due to the hurricane. We very much enjoyed Manuel Antonio and Arenal and are sorry that we missed Monteverde. Our guide, Homer, was terrific and we really enjoyed his knowledge and camaraderie.
Just wanted to thank you again for all your help. Mr. Lain had an awesome Peru trip. He wants to go back and is working ‘rosetta stone’ to learn Spanish. 600 pictures, video and chitter bites were his treasures upon returning. He said he has lots to share with his students.

AM: Arrival at Baltra Airport
Morning flight from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra, in the Galapagos Islands. Upon arrival at Baltra Island, passengers are greeted at the airport by our knowledgeable guides and taken on a brief ten-minute bus ride to the pier, where they will board the Galapagos Legend.
PM: Bachas Beach: Santa Cruz Island
This tiny, low-lying islet, formed from coral sand, lies between North and South Seymour Islands. It is home to a group of sea lions that often lounge on the soft white sand, and it’s an excellent spot to observe shorebirds, herons, lava gulls, and boobies. While snorkeling or diving here, you may also encounter sharks, rays, and barracudas.
AM: Egas Port: Santiago Island
The black volcanic sand sets this landing apart from most. It is best known for its dramatic shoreline, where we encounter a variety of species that have chosen to live between land and sea. Among them are the endemic Galapagos fur seals, which maintain a small colony at the end of the trail.
PM: Rabida Island
Lying at the heart of the archipelago, this dramatic island with its distinctive red-sand beach is home to sea lions, mockingbirds, finches, endemic Galapagos doves, and vermilion flycatchers. A walk through a forest of palo santo and cacti leads to a beautiful overlook of the bay.
AM: Urbina Bay: Isabela Island
At the far end of a long, level hike, we arrive at a striking geological phenomenon: large blocks of coral lie completely exposed due to a dramatic uplift in 1954. Located at the western base of Alcedo Volcano, this area is a good place to spot impressive land iguanas and, during the wet season, some of the Galapagos giant tortoises that are endemic to this volcano.
PM: Tagus Cove: Isabela Island
Tagus Cove is a historic pirate hideout and anchorage, famously visited by Charles Darwin and the HMS Beagle in 1835. A hike past Darwin Lake reveals a stunning volcanic landscape and dramatic views of Isabela Island’s northern volcanoes. Snorkel along a submerged wall teeming with turtles, fish, penguins, and flightless cormorants. For added excitement, enjoy a panga ride or kayak along the rugged shoreline.
AM: Punta Espinosa: Fernandina Island
Pristine Fernandina is the marine iguana capital of the Galapagos. Its stark volcanic landscape hosts a massive concentration of these enigmatic reptiles. Surprisingly, Galapagos penguins share the same shoreline. Snorkeling here offers an exciting chance to witness marine iguanas feeding underwater, alongside penguins, turtles, and the unique flightless cormorant.
PM: Punta Vicente Roca: Isabela Island
This spectacular site is surrounded by immense cliffs formed from an eroded volcano. It is dotted with resting seabirds such as brown noddies and Nazca boobies. The area offers superb snorkeling, featuring unique fish species. Visitors can also swim alongside penguins and green turtles.
AM: Highlands: Santa Cruz Island
In the central highlands of Santa Cruz Island, we have the best opportunity to observe Galapagos giant tortoises up close in the wild. A short walk among these enormous, 600-pound reptiles also offers a chance to see other highland species, especially several of the famed finches.
After the visit, passengers will be transferred to Baltra Airport for their return flight to Guayaquil or Quito.
