In San Cristobal
AM: Arrival at San Cristobal Airport
You will arrive at San Cristobal Island in the morning. After passing through immigration and collecting your baggage, an Infinity staff member will meet you and escort you to the yacht. You will be shown to your cabin and have some time to settle in before enjoying lunch and a welcome briefing.
PM: Puerto Chino
Puerto Chino is located 15.2 miles (24.5 km) from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and just a few miles from the Cerro Colorado Breeding Center. The walk to the beach takes approximately 30 minutes.
Or: David Rodriguez Breeding Center “La Galapaguera”
The David Rodriguez Breeding Center, or La Galapaguera, is a new visitor site on southeastern San Cristobal Island, about an hour’s drive from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. The area is home to land birds like warblers, finches, and mockingbirds, and protected trails where giant tortoises live safely away from predators such as pigs and goats.
AM: Santa Fe Island
Santa Fe Island (also known as Barrington) features a small, picturesque bay and anchorage on its northeastern coast. The island offers two visitor trails: one that leads to a scenic viewpoint atop a cliff, and another that extends from a small beach to a towering forest of prickly pear cacti.
PM: South Plaza Island
This small island, with its steep cliffs, was formed by uplifted lava and is now covered in Opuntia cacti. It is home to one of the largest sea lion colonies, as well as colorful yellow and red land iguanas. The most distinctive plant here is the Sesuvium, which changes color with the seasons. It appears greenish to yellow during the rainy season and turns bright red in the dry season, from the end of June through January.
AM: Fausto Llerena Breeding Center
You will visit the Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding Center in Puerto Ayora, where giant tortoises are bred in captivity. This center is home to tortoises ranging in size from 3 inch hatchlings to 4 foot long adults. Subspecies of the giant tortoise can often be seen interacting with one another, and many of the older individuals are accustomed to human presence, sometimes stretching out their necks for a photo. The young tortoises are cared for until they are about four years old and strong enough to survive on their own in the wild.
PM: Twin Craters
You will visit the Twin Craters, located on either side of the road between Puerto Ayora and Baltra. Despite their name, these are not actual volcanic craters but depressions formed by the collapse of underground lava chambers and fissures. The surrounding landscape is lush and the view is truly breathtaking.
AM: Moreno Point
Moreno Point is located southwest of Elizabeth Bay. Here, a dry landing is possible on what was once a flowing lava field. The lava has left behind craters that have formed crystal-clear tide pools. Gazing into these pools feels like peering into another world, where marine life drifts gracefully by. In the brackish waters, you may spot pink flamingos, white-cheeked pintails, and common gallinules. With a careful eye, you might also see white-tip reef sharks and sea turtles.
PM: Elizabeth Bay
Elizabeth Bay is located on the east coast of Isabela Island and is surrounded by numerous small islets that can be explored by dinghy. Penguins and blue-footed boobies are often seen on the rocky shores. With its clear waters and rich marine life, the bay is an excellent spot for snorkeling and offers the chance to see schools of colorful fish, sea lions, and even the occasional shark.
AM: Urbina Bay
Urbina Bay is located at the base of Alcedo Volcano on the west coast of Isabela Island, between Tagus Cove and Elizabeth Bay. In 1954, a major geological uplift caused the land to rise over 16 feet, expanding the coastline by half a mile and leaving marine life stranded on the newly exposed shore. Today, Urbina Bay is also a fantastic spot for snorkeling, offering the chance to observe a variety of marine species.
PM: Tagus Cove
You will visit Tagus Cove on Isabela Island, located across from Fernandina Island near the Bolivar Channel. This site has been used as an anchorage since the 1800s. A trail winds past Lake Darwin and up to a scenic ridge, offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
AM: Espinoza Point
After crossing the Bolivar Channel, which separates Isabela and Fernandina Islands, you will land at Espinoza Point. As you walk past a colony of marine iguanas and a group of sea lions, you will arrive at one of the island’s highlights, the nesting site of the rare flightless cormorant. This area also offers a good chance to spot the Galapagos hawk.
PM: Vicente Roca Point
Vicente Roca Point, made up of two separate coves, is a large bay known for its spectacular marine life. While snorkeling, keep an eye out for seahorses, sea turtles, and the strange yet fascinating Mola mola, also known as the sunfish.
AM: Egas Port
Egas Port, also known as James Bay, on Santiago Island is home to curious Galapagos hawks and quick-footed lava lizards. A scenic trail leads to the coastline, where you’ll find beautiful tide pools and grottos teeming with wildlife. Galapagos fur seals can often be seen sunbathing on the rocks. This site also offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling.
PM: Pinnacle Rock
You will head to Bartholomew Island, home to the iconic Pinnacle Rock. The island features an extinct volcano with striking volcanic formations in shades of red, orange, black, and even green. A staircase trail leads to the summit and takes about 30 to 40 minutes to climb, where you will be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking views in the Galapagos. Below, a scenic beach bordered by sparse vegetation offers an excellent snorkeling spot where you may even have the chance to swim alongside Galapagos penguins.
AM: North Seymour
On North Seymour Island, you may encounter Galapagos sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and magnificent frigatebirds, all of which are abundant here. The island was formed by a series of submarine lava flows layered with sediment and later uplifted by tectonic activity. It is characterized by an arid vegetation zone.
After your final visit, you will be transferred to Baltra Airport in time for your flight back to the mainland.
