In Lima
Upon arrival in Lima and after completing the standard immigration, luggage retrieval, and customs procedures, please proceed to the exit of the international terminal. Your driver will be waiting for you showing a sign with your name(s) and provide you with a private transfer to your selected hotel for a two-night stay, including daily breakfast.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
At the designated time, meet your guide for the Lima City Tour & Larco Museum, exploring the city’s modern and colonial highlights. Visit Larcomar overlooking the Pacific, the pre-Inca Pucllana Temple in Miraflores, El Olivar Park in San Isidro, and Lima’s historic downtown, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Main Square and its iconic colonial landmarks.
Conclude at the Larco Museum, housed in an 18th-century mansion built atop a 7th-century pyramid, showcasing remarkable pre-Columbian art, gold and silver artifacts, open storage galleries, and its renowned Erotic Gallery. Transfer back to your hotel at the end of the visit.
At the designated time, please proceed to the lobby of the hotel and meet your driver for a private transfer to Lima Airport for your domestic flight to Cusco (airfare not included).
Upon arrival, enjoy a meet-and-greet service at the airport, followed by a transfer to your selected hotel for a two-night stay with breakfast.
Your Choice of Accommodations:
In the afternoon, enjoy the Cusco City Tour & Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park. Visit Sacsayhuaman, a fortress of massive stones, then Q’enqo, the Temple of the Puma with its carved sacrificial altar, and Tambomachay, the sacred fountains. Stop at Puca Pucara, the ancient watchtower.
Back in Cusco, see Korikancha, the Temple of the Sun built over by the Saint Dominique Convent, and end at the Main Square with the Cusco Cathedral, home to colonial paintings and historic artifacts. Return to your hotel at the end of the day.
Important Note: Visitors are not permitted to enter religious sites wearing shorts, and photography is not allowed inside the Cathedral.
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. Along the way, pass notable landmarks in the Sacred Valley, including the hanging bridge marking the start of the Inca Trail. The railway follows the Urubamba River (Vilcanota River), descending through a canyon to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, board a minibus up the winding road to Machu Picchu for your Machu Picchu Guided Visit, exploring the Sacred Citadel of the Incas and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Then, board the train for a scenic one and a half hour journey back to Ollanta Train Station. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.
Important Note: Remember to confirm your reservation as soon as possible to proceed with the purchase of tickets in advance due to the limited capacity of the citadel. The specific circuit to visit Machu Picchu and schedule will be selected according to availability at the time of reservation confirmation.
At the designated time, proceed to the hotel lobby to meet your driver for a private transfer to Cusco Airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado (airfare not included). Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Tambopata River port for a scenic boat ride to your lodge. Enjoy an Amazonian lunch on board before arriving at Posada Amazonas Lodge.
Upon arrival at Family Adventure at Posada Amazonas Lodge – Day 1, an ecolodge run by the Ese Eja Native Community, children receive a seed bracelet and a temporary Amazonian tattoo to begin their adventure, joined by Paddington Bear for extra fun. In the evening, a guided night walk reveals bioluminescent insects, frogs, tarantulas, and other nocturnal creatures, offering a magical introduction to the ever-awake rainforest.
Important Note: ** Arrival before 1:00 PM
The day begins with a climb up the 40-meter observation tower on Family Adventure at Posada Amazonas Lodge – Day 2, where children can watch the jungle awaken as sunlight lights up the treetops and parrots, toucans, and macaws fill the sky with color and sound.
After breakfast, visit the parrot clay lick, where dozens of vibrant birds gather on mineral-rich clay, captivating the whole family.
In the afternoon, a rainforest walk leads to the majestic Great Ceiba, a centuries-old tree where guides share Amazonian tales, inspiring children and adults while highlighting the importance of protecting the rainforest.
Today, on Family Adventure at Posada Amazonas Lodge – Day 3, embark on an exciting search for the true treasure of the Amazon: wildlife. Begin with a boat ride and jungle walk to Tres Chimbadas Lake, where a silent canoe ride offers the chance to spot giant river otters, caimans, turtles, and exotic birds, an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.
In the afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise as the river glows golden, sharing a toast with an Amazonian drink and reflecting on the rainforest’s untouched beauty.
After dinner, young explorers become scientists during the Wired Amazon: Discovering New Species program, examining samples with biologists in search of insects and species new to science.
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Amazon, carrying with you the memories of a journey that has left a lasting impression on every family member. Children will return home with incredible stories, new insights into nature, and a deeper connection to the planet. Family travel in Peru is not just an adventure; it is an opportunity to teach the youngest explorers the importance of caring for our world.
Take the boat back to the Tambopata River port, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Puerto Maldonado Airport for your onward flight.
