Your adventure begins in the City of Kings, Lima, the gateway to the hidden empire of the mighty Inca. Enjoy a private tour of both the old and modern sections of this fascinating city, followed by a cooking demonstration class.
In Lima
Upon arrival in Lima, and after completing the standard immigration, luggage retrieval, and customs procedures, please proceed to the exit of the international terminal. Your driver will be waiting for you, holding a sign with your name(s), and will provide a private transfer to your hotel in the centrally located Miraflores district for a two-night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott, including breakfast.
At the designated time, meet your guide for the Lima City Tour & Larco Museum with Lunch, exploring the city’s modern and colonial highlights. Visit Larcomar overlooking the Pacific, the pre-Inca Pucllana Temple in Miraflores, El Olivar Park in San Isidro, and Lima’s historic downtown, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Main Square and its iconic colonial landmarks.
Conclude at the Larco Museum, housed in an 18th-century mansion built atop a 7th-century pyramid, showcasing remarkable pre-Columbian art, gold and silver artifacts, open storage galleries, and its renowned Erotic Gallery. At the end of the visit, enjoy a Peruvian cooking demonstration followed by a Creole lunch, tasting a variety of national dishes. You will then be transferred back to your hotel.
At the designated time, please proceed to the lobby of the hotel and meet your driver for a private transfer to Lima Airport for your domestic flight to Cusco (airfare not included). Upon arrival at Cusco Airport, enjoy a meet-and-greet service, followed by a transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the Urubamba region, including sightseeing at the Pisac Archaeological Site and Market en-route. Check in at Sonesta Posada del Inca-Yucay Hotel for a two-night stay with daily breakfast.
Enjoy Chinchero, Maras, and Moray with Lunch, a full-day exploration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas with several stops en route.
Begin in Chinchero, a traditional Inca village with archaeological remains, a 17th-century church, and artisans preserving Inca traditions. Visit the Maras salt mines, where centuries-old terraces produce salt through an intricate system of channels and sun-evaporation. Continue to the circular agricultural terraces of Moray, thought to be an open-air Inca crop laboratory, showcasing advanced farming techniques.
After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to your hotel.
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. Along the way, pass notable landmarks in the Sacred Valley, including the hanging bridge marking the start of the Inca Trail. The railway follows the Urubamba River (Vilcanota River), descending through a canyon to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, board a minibus up the winding road to Machu Picchu for your Machu Picchu Guided Visit, exploring the Sacred Citadel of the Incas and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Then, board the train for a scenic one and a half hour journey back to Ollanta Train Station. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Cusco and check in at Los Portales Cusco Hotel for a three-night stay.
At the designated time, enjoy Cusco City Tour & Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park, a half-day exploration of Cusco and its archaeological sites. Begin at Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park to admire the fortress’s massive stones, some over 4 meters high. Continue to Q’enqo, the ancient Puma temple with its sacrificial altar, then Tambomachay, the sacred fountains of life, and a panoramic view of Puca Pucara, the city’s historic watchtower.
In Cusco, visit Korikancha, the Temple of the Sun, built atop by the Saint Dominique Convent, and end at the Main Square with a tour of the Cusco Cathedral, home to priceless colonial art. At the end of the visit, return to your hotel.
Important Note: Visitors are not permitted to enter religious sites wearing shorts. Photography is not allowed inside the Cathedral.
Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure in Cusco, the historic heart of the Inca Empire. Take this time to rest or explore the city’s vibrant center, known for its rich culture, delicious cuisine, and fascinating history. Wander through cobblestone streets, visit local markets, or simply soak in the charm of this highland city as you prepare for your next adventure.
At the designated time, prepare for a private transfer to Cusco Airport to check in for your flight back to Lima, where you will connect with your homebound flight. Alternatively, you may choose to continue your journey with a wonderful extension to Lake Titicaca or Puerto Maldonado in the southern Amazon.
