In San Cristobal
AM: Arrival at San Cristobal Airport
Upon arrival at San Cristobal Airport, you will pass through an inspection point to ensure no foreign plants or animals are introduced to the islands. You will also pay the Galapagos National Park entrance fee of USD 200, unless it has been prepaid. A guide will meet you, assist with your luggage, and escort you on a short bus ride to the harbor. There, you will board the yacht Solaris. After meeting the crew and captain, you will be assigned your cabin and enjoy your first lunch aboard.
PM: Colorado Hill: San Cristobal
The Cerro Colorado Tortoise Protection and Breeding Center is located approximately 40 minutes by bus southeast of the island’s main port. This center was established to help restore the population of the island’s giant tortoises. It features a large corral, a visitor center, a breeding facility, and an interpretive trail. Along the trail, visitors can observe various native and endemic plant species, as well as birds such as the San Cristobal mockingbird, yellow warblers, several species of finches, and the Galapagos flycatcher.
AM: Gardner Bay: Española
On the northeastern coast of Española Island, Gardner Bay offers a beautiful spot to enjoy the turquoise sea and admire a variety of colorful reef fish. You will also have the opportunity to snorkel alongside green sea turtles or experience the playful nature of Galapagos sea lions up close. The white sand beach serves as an important breeding ground for green sea turtles. In the crystal-clear waters, whales can occasionally be spotted under the right conditions.
PM: Suarez Point: Española
Suarez Point features dramatic basaltic cliffs and a striking blowhole, where ocean waves create powerful water sprays. This scenic viewpoint offers a peaceful moment surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. The area is also a haven for diverse seabirds, including the endangered Galapagos albatross, blue footed and Nazca boobies, swallow tailed gulls, and red billed tropicbirds, especially visible along the cliffs during the right season.
AM: Cormorant Point and Champion Islet: Floreana
Cormorant Point on Floreana Island features volcanic landscapes, a dry forest of palo santo trees, and unique beaches. One beach has green sand rich in olivine crystals, while the other has soft white coral sand formed by parrotfish. Visitors may see sea lions, stingrays, and, during certain months, nesting Pacific green turtles. Nearby, Devil’s Crown is a top snorkeling spot with vibrant marine life, though strong currents may be challenging for beginners.
PM: Post Office Bay & Baroness Lookout: Floreana
This site is famous for its historic wooden barrel mailbox, placed in the 18th century by whalers and still in use today for tourists’ letters. The nearby beach is home to Galapagos sea lions, green turtles, golden rays, and the only southeastern Galapagos penguins. You can also climb the Baroness Lookout, once favored by Floreana’s eccentric early settler, Eloisa von Wagner. Since a long navigation follows, seasickness medication is recommended.
AM: Sullivan Bay: Santiago
Arriving at Sullivan Bay feels like stepping onto the moon. The desolate, sprawling lava fields seem mostly lifeless, yet this island, popular among photographers, still offers much to see. Life thrives here too: green sea turtles nest on the small white sand beach, where you can also spot crabs, blue herons, and oystercatchers.
PM: Bartholomew
The beautiful volcanic islet of Bartholomew is one of the youngest islands, recently born from fire on a geological scale. Although it may seem lifeless at first, Bartholomew offers some of the wildest landscapes and best panoramas in the entire archipelago. To enjoy the postcard view of the idyllic Pinnacle Bay, you will climb stairs to the island’s viewpoint at 114 meters (375 feet). Enter a dramatic world of nearby extinct spatter cones, craters, and lightweight lava droplets spewed out by fiery fountains. The summit trail is also ideal for observing how sparse pioneer vegetation, such as lava cactus, struggles to take root in the bare lava fields.
AM: Black Turtle Cove: Santa Cruz
This small bay, located on the north side of Santa Cruz Island, offers a unique backdrop for unforgettable adventures. The landscape feels more like the Amazon rainforest than a coastal area. Explore the quiet emerald lagoon and surrounding shallow bays by inflatable dinghy. The crystal-clear water makes it easy to spot groups of whitetip reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, golden rays, and spotted eagle rays.
After your final visit, you will be transferred to Baltra Airport in time for your flight back to the mainland.
