We toured the Doka coffee plantation and La Paz Waterfall gardens with Homer, and we were treated to way more than we could have imagined. Great knowledge of local flora, fauna, history, and a wonderful person overall. A wonderful day in the cloud forest!

Embarking from Ushuaia aboard the MV Ventus Australis, the “Darwin’s Route from Ushuaia” unfolds as an 8‑night expedition into the remote southernmost reaches of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Read More
The journey charts a course through the legendary Beagle Channel and the narrow Murray Channel before arriving at the windswept wilderness of Cape Horn and the historic bay of Wulaia Bay, where the dense Magellanic forest and the sweeping architecture of the world’s end meet. Along the way passengers are immersed in towering glaciers such as Pia Glacier, Porter Glacier, Aguila Glacier and the dramatic fjords carved into rugged mountain terrain. Wildlife encounters, Zodiac landings, and sweeping vistas of nearly untouched nature shape a voyage that traces the footsteps of explorers and naturalist Charles Darwin, delivering an authentic, small‑ship experience at the edge of the world.
In Ushuaia, Argentina
Between 10:00 and 17:00 hrs, we will check in at the office of Tolkeyen Patagonia Turismo before embarking at 18:00. After boarding, we will gather on the fifth deck for a welcome toast and to meet the Captain and crew. The ship will then set sail south, navigating the legendary Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan, as we explore the stunning fjords and channels of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay, arriving at Cape Horn National Park. Weather permitting, we will disembark to experience the magic of one of the southernmost points in the world, a place steeped in charm and legend.
In the afternoon, we will visit Wulaia Bay, a historic site that was once one of the largest settlements of the native Yagans canoeists. From there, we will hike to a viewpoint through the Magellanic forest, home to lengas, coigües, canelos, ferns, and many other plant species.
In the morning, we will sail along the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel and disembark at Pia Fjord. From the viewpoint, we can admire the glacier of the same name, whose main peak stretches from the top of the mountain range down to the sea.
In the afternoon, we will embark on a Zodiac excursion without disembarking, navigating between towering rocky walls to reach the impressive Porter Glacier, allowing us to contemplate it up close.
In the morning, we will navigate the Cockburn Channel to enter Agostini Sound, where we can admire glaciers descending from the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range, some reaching all the way to the sea. After breakfast, we will disembark via Zodiac boats for a walk around a lagoon formed by the melting of the Aguila Glacier.
In the afternoon, we will continue exploring by Zodiac without disembarking, approaching the Condor Glacier up close. During the excursion, we will learn about glacier formation and their impact on the dramatic geography of the Fuegian channels.
At first light, weather permitting, we will disembark on Magdalena Island, a historic stop once used by ancient navigators and explorers. During our walk to the lighthouse, we can observe a colony of Magellanic penguins. In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a landing on Marta Island, where South American sea lions can be spotted from Zodiac boats. We will then arrive in Punta Arenas, disembarking at 12:30 to explore the city, including its restaurants, shops, and museums.
Boarding resumes at 18:00, followed by a welcome toast and an introduction to the Captain and crew. The ship will then set sail toward the southernmost points of the region, navigating the legendary Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel as we continue to explore the fjords and channels of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
We will sail to the vicinity of the Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay to learn how life returns after the ice melts and to hike through the beautiful sub-Antarctic Magellanic forest.
We will also visit the Tuckers Islets, where Magellanic penguins and cormorants can be observed from the Zodiacs. Due to the penguins’ migratory cycle, in September and April this excursion is replaced by a short walk to a glacier at the nearby, stunning Brookes Bay.
We will sail along the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel and disembark at Pia Fjord. From the viewpoint, we can admire the glacier of the same name, whose main peak stretches from the top of the mountain range down to the sea.
After this unforgettable experience, we will continue navigating under the majestic gaze of the “Glacier Alley,” enjoying spectacular panoramic views from the ship.
Early in the morning, we will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay, arriving at Cape Horn National Park. Weather permitting, we may disembark via Zodiac boats to explore this iconic location.
In the afternoon, we will visit Wulaia Bay, where a variety of excursions are offered, ensuring that each visit is a unique and memorable experience.
Finally, we will sail back into Argentine waters and dock in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, with disembarkation at 8:30.
